The Traumatic Head and Spinal Cord Injury (THSCI) Trust Fund Program provides services in a flexible, individualized manner to Louisiana residents who survive traumatic head or spinal cord injuries.
The program assists individuals in working toward greater independence and community living. The Trust Fund is a program of last resort, meaning individuals must seek assistance from other available resources before the program can provide financial assistance or services.

@SLIC provides services through the State Personal Assistance Services (SPAS) program, a Louisiana state-funded program administered through the Office of Aging and Adult Services (OAAS). SPAS supports eligible adults with significant disabilities who need personal assistance to remain as independent as possible in their homes and communities.
Services are based on the individual’s assessed needs and approved service plan. SPAS may provide assistance with personal care and activities of daily living to support independence and community living.

@SLIC provides services for eligible children and youth through Louisiana Medicaid’s Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) program. EPSDT helps individuals under age 21 access needed medical, personal care, therapy, home health, equipment, and other Medicaid-covered services.
Services are based on the individual’s assessed needs and Medicaid authorization. EPSDT is a Medicaid State Plan service rather than a waiver, and available supports are intended to help children and youth receive the services they need in their homes and communities.

@SLIC provides Long-Term Personal Care Services (LT-PCS), a Louisiana Medicaid service administered through the Office of Aging and Adult Services (OAAS). LT-PCS helps eligible individuals who need assistance with everyday activities remain safely and independently in their homes and communities.
Services are based on the individual’s assessed needs and authorized plan of care. LT-PCS may provide assistance with personal care and activities of daily living to support independence and help individuals continue living in the community.

@SLIC provides services through the Supports Waiver (SW), a Louisiana home and community-based waiver administered through the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disability Supports (OIDD). SW supports eligible adults age 18 and older through services designed to promote employment, community participation, and greater independence.
Services are based on the individual’s approved plan of care and authorized needs. SW may include supported employment, day habilitation, transportation, respite, specialized medical equipment and supplies, and other approved supports. The Supports Waiver is not intended to provide 24-hour-a-day support.

@SLIC provides services through the Children’s Choice Waiver (CC), a Louisiana home and community-based waiver administered through the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disability Supports (OIDD). CC supports eligible individuals from birth through age 20 who live at home with their families or who are transitioning from an institution back into the community.
Services are based on the individual’s approved plan of care and authorized needs. CC may include family support, respite, specialized equipment, environmental adaptations, therapy services, and other approved supports designed to help the individual remain at home and participate in the community.

@SLIC provides services through the Community Choices Waiver (CCW), a Louisiana home and community-based waiver administered through the Office of Aging and Adult Services (OAAS). CCW helps eligible adults receive supports that allow them to remain safely in their homes and communities rather than receiving care in a nursing facility.
Services are based on the individual’s approved plan of care and authorized needs. CCW may include personal assistance services and other supports designed to promote independence, safety, and community living.

@SLIC provides services through the Residential Options Waiver (ROW), a Louisiana home and community-based waiver that supports eligible individuals with developmental disabilities in living and participating in their homes and communities.
ROW services are based on the individual’s assessed support needs and approved plan of care. The waiver offers a range of services and supports designed to promote independence, choice, and community living.

@SLIC provides services through the New Opportunities Waiver (NOW), one of Louisiana’s home and community-based waivers administered through the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disability Supports (OIDD). NOW supports eligible individuals with developmental disabilities in living and participating in their homes and communities.
Services are based on the individual’s approved plan of care and authorized needs. NOW may include supports such as assistance with daily living, community participation, employment supports, respite, and other approved services designed to promote independence and community living. For individuals who qualify, Supported Independent Living (SIL) may also be available through NOW to provide additional support for living independently in the community.

@SLIC provides VA-authorized Home Health Aide services to eligible Veterans who need personal care and assistance in their homes.
Trained Direct Support Workers can assist with personal care and everyday activities based on the Veteran’s individual needs and VA authorization. These services help Veterans maintain their independence and continue living safely in their own homes and communities.

@SLIC supports eligible Veterans participating in Veteran-Directed Care (VDC), a program that gives Veterans greater choice and control over their long-term services and supports.
Through VDC, Veterans can have greater involvement in deciding how their authorized care budget is used and who provides their support. @SLIC assists Veterans with developing their service plan, managing their authorized budget, and directing the workers who provide their care.

@SLIC’s Loaner Closet provides durable medical equipment to help people maintain safety and independence at home and in the community.
Available equipment may include wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, hospital beds, and other medical equipment based on availability.

@SLIC provides American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to support effective communication and accessibility for people who are D/deaf or hard of hearing.
Interpreting services are coordinated through our Lake Charles office and are available to businesses, organizations, agencies, and individuals throughout Region V.

@SLIC’s Regional Support Center helps eligible individuals who are D/deaf, DeafBlind, or hard of hearing access hearing aids and related support through the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf (LCD).

@SLIC’s Regional Support Center provides telecommunications and assistive technology equipment to help people who are D/deaf, DeafBlind, or hard of hearing improve communication access and independence.
Available equipment may include amplified telephones, alerting devices, bed shakers, and other assistive technology based on individual needs and program eligibility.
